Points to Note
We recommend reading first about the traffic rules in Japan and information on the rented vehicle to ensure safe driving.
Japan has special rules for traffic, signals, the use of ETC units on expressways, and driving rental cars. Make the necessary preparations before driving.
Vehicle Return Procedures
When you are done driving, return the vehicle to the station where you picked it up. If a one-way rental reservation has been made, return the vehicle to the station specified.
1.Refueling Before Returning the Vehicle
Return the vehicle with a full tank by refueling at a gas station.
Ask a staff member to direct you to the nearest gas station.
When returning the vehicle, make sure not to fill the tank with the wrong type of fuel.
Despite the increasing number of self-service gas stations in Japan, we recommend refueling at a manned gas station if you are not confident in reading Japanese.
The staff at manned gas stations will fill the tank with the correct fuel for the vehicle in use.
2.Returning the Vehicle to the Specified Rental Station
Talk to a staff member once you arrive at the return station. Check the condition of the vehicle together with the station staff.
Settle any additional fees incurred through extensions or other services.
Present the receipt from the gas station.
Check to make sure you have left no personal belongings in the vehicle.
Leave plenty of time to return the vehicle in consideration of traffic congestion.
Contact the Customer Desk in advance if you need to extend the rental period. Pay the extension fee when returning the vehicle.
A separate refueling fee must be paid if the vehicle is returned without a full tank. The refueling fee will be calculated based on the standards prescribed by the company in accordance with the distance traveled.
Contact the Customer Desk first before going to the station if you wish to return the vehicle earlier than the scheduled return date.
The balance of the unused period will be refunded. However, a midterm cancellation fee will be charged.
Midterm Cancellation Fee = (Rental fees corresponding to the Rental Agreement period ‒ Rental fees corresponding to the period from rental until termination) x 50%
Amount of Refund = Balance ‒ Midterm Cancellation Fee
